  32 <p>This document describes the LLVM bitcode file format. It specifies
  33 the binary encoding rules of the bitcode file format so that
  34 equivalent systems can encode bitcode files correctly. The LLVM
  35 bitcode representation is used to store the intermediate
  36 representation on disk in a compacted form.</p>
  37 <p>This document supercedes the LLVM bytecode file format for the 2.0
  38 release.</p>
